Job Description
Position Summary

The Credit Analyst is responsible for granting and maintaining credit limits for commercial account debtors. Works closely with Operations, Sales and directly with clients to protect the company and our clients from credit risk.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the credit worthiness of current and prospective commercial account debtors through the review of financial statements, use of mercantile credit reports, public information databases, internal payment history and any other information that could serve as a basis for establishing a reasonable credit limit;

  • Assist in the preparation of written credit proposals and presentations to various credit committees;

  • Prepare written analysis of current and prospective credit exposures;

  • Process credit applications by conducting the investigation of bank and trade references through phone calls or other means;

  • Assist in maintaining and reviewing current information for account debtors as per company policy;

  • Review credit alerts to be sure the company's risk is manageable;

  • Provide assistance to external customers through phone and email;

  • Maintain communication with Account Resolutions and Operations departments to minimize credit losses;

  • Setup new account debtors by verifying information with multiple sources;

  • Review debtors for prospective clients and communicate with the Sales staff through Salesforce

Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience;

  • 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced working environment.

Skills & Abilities Required

The successful candidate will possess general business, analytical and critical thinking skills and experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements;

  • Problem solving and decision-making skills are essential;

  • Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of the team;

  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills;

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail;

  • Strong professional communication skills;

  • Knowledge of the transportation industry is a plus.

  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting is required.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
