Linux Systems Administrator opportunity in Lexington, MA!
*An interim clearance is sufficient to start, but an active security clearance is highly preferred*
Our client is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to assist with building and maintaining systems, with a focus on security and meeting regulatory compliance requirements. The Systems Administrator will work with IT teams across the division to provide Linux systems in support of cyber security research. Senior team members will supervise work and assign tasks, but successful candidates will be expected to work semi-independently and exercise judgement within standard practices and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

-Provisioning Linux servers according to researcher needs
-Configuring Linux systems to meet security and compliance requirements
-Break/fix Linux troubleshooting

-Networking configuration and troubleshooting, including DHCP and DNS

-Ongoing system maintenance, including system updates, vulnerability remediation, and performance tuning

-Documenting changes to systems and configurations
Required:

-Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience (seeking junior candidates 1-5 years experience)

-At least one year of experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Rocky/Alma and Debian/Ubuntu Linux

-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

-Team-oriented with the ability to interact with others respectfully and develop productive working relationships

-Effective at written and oral communication

Desired:

-Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Ansible and Puppet

-Experience with security hardening such as STIGs or CIS Benchmarks

-Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST 800-171, and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification

-CompTIA Security+ certification

-Professional Linux certification such as Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, Linux Professional Institute Linux Essentials, or similar
