Admissions Counselor - Access Focus Posting Number: JR105161 Location: Colorado Engineering a world of possibilities Admissions Counselor - Access Focus The Opportunity The Admissions Team in the Division of Enrollment Management welcomes applications for an Admissions Counselor - Access Focus. The position is a 12-month year-round position that exists to thoroughly engage in undergraduate recruitment efforts through actively communicating the benefits of a Mines education to prospective students, their parents, counselors, and other community organizations. The Admissions Counselor is primarily responsible for visiting high schools, advising prospective students and their families on admissions to Mines, and evaluating applications for admission, educating the community on the enrollment process, and other general Admissions Office activities. In addition, the Admissions Counselor will serve as the lead Admissions staff person in identifying, developing and facilitating Mines' student recruitment efforts focusing on access and communities traditionally underrepresented in STEM majors. The Admissions Counselor will be expected to work collaboratively with the campus community and he or she will routinely be expected to work on weekends and evenings. Decision Scope: This position must be able to work independently and make decisions based on current policy established within the Admissions office as well as defined by institutional regulations and best practices. The Admissions Counselor will frequently make decisions on:
Communications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical to be successful in this position. VERBAL - this position meets frequently with students and their families, individually and in groups, and must have the ability to explain recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes clearly and concisely. The position will also communicate frequently with their supervisees, the Admissions team, campus departments, and external organizations. WRITTEN - this position will communicate through email to explain recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes clearly. Salary Rate and Benefits $55,000 - $57,000 Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
