Job Summary

Under the direction of the Planning Supervisor, the Planner III/ Lead Planner is responsible for analyzing, planning, and maintaining production schedules for various operations of the manufacturing floor. This position is also responsible for mentoring and leading the planning team. The Planner III will use continuous improvement ideals to evaluate inventory levels, prevent customer line downs, and evaluate processes currently in practice. This position is required to adhere to all corporate policies and procedures to maintain HellermannTyton's IATF16949/ISO9001 Quality and ISO14001 EMS certifications

Essential Functions:



  • Use MRP/ERP to Determine order Quantities for Work orders and Purchase orders
  • Create, manage and expedite work orders for assigned manufactured items
  • Maintain planning parameters for MRP.
  • Maintain MATTEC (MES) production schedule to ensure that accurate information is being communicated to the production floor
  • Analyze the production schedule, evaluate constraints and implement solutions to prevent Customer Expedites and Back Orders and maintain inventory levels.
  • Mentor and lead the planners in the department.



Other Functions



  • Schedule T4/PPAP trial runs as required
  • Participate/Initiate Continuous Improvement projects
  • Assist in verifying transactions and troubleshooting transaction errors as necessary
  • Print, analyze and distribute production reports from MATTEC system when necessary
  • Provide information to assist in maintaining accurate bills of materials and routings
  • Participate as needed in any and/or all activities related to cycle counting or physical inventory
  • Other duties as assigned



Key Competencies



  • Ability to identify and manage constraints to anticipate and prevent Customer Expedites, Back Orders or Quality issues
  • Ability to use and understand MRP inputs/outputs to maintain planning parameters and create work orders and purchase orders. Uses MRP set ups to solve advanced problems
  • Ability to analyze supply and demand relationships and the impact to capacity.
  • Effective oral and written communication with all levels of the organization, vendors, and internal/external customers.



Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience):




  • Bachelor's degree in an operations related field with 5+ years' experience
  • In lieu of a degree, a combination of education and 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment may also be considered.
  • Strong Business and Finance Acumen
  • Action oriented problem solver. Confident in making decisions.
  • Utilizes Emotional Intelligence when interacting with others.
  • Influencer
  • Experience to be a Mentor to team members
  • Advanced user of MRP/ERP systems - terminology and concepts, bills of materials, standard routings and/or related materials. Able to leverage system set ups for problem solving.
  • Understands Demand planning and its' impact to capacity.
  • In depth Data analysis skills
  • JDE/Peoplesoft familiarity preferred.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft applications, word, excel (Pivot tables), outlook required.
  • Prior plastics experience helpful.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and on weekends to meet the needs of our internal and external customers.
  • Must have valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and acceptable insurance
