About the Job

The School of Dentistry's Faculty Practice Clinic is recruiting a Patient Care Coordinator. This position is responsible for processing registrations and appointments of dental patients. The Patient Care Coordinator is an important part of our Faculty Practice Clinic team, helping the clinic run smoothly and contributing to an excellent experience for our patients.
The person in this position will be expected to function independently in their assigned duties. We rely on the person in this position to be an excellent communicator and reliable.
Position Responsibilities
Dental Clinic Front Desk Receptionist:
  • Act as an information source to dental clinic visitors, staff and patients; inform patients of clinic payment policies and collect payments.
  • Schedule appointments in a complex setting. Greet and receive patients and register them in clinic.
  • Balance the collected fees at the end of each workday.
  • Enter all relevant demographic, insurance, and patient information into the electronic chart with minimal errors.
  • Review patient's accounts for financial and insurance information.
  • Answers busy multiple telephone lines for the clinic and provide information regarding clinic policies and procedures.
Appointments and billing:
  • Enter appointment and billing information into electronic dental records system.
  • Assist dentists with miscellaneous tasks related to scheduling and patient care.
Miscellaneous office responsibilities:
  • Order supplies for the reception desk.
  • Track doctors' time in and away from clinic.
  • Distribute mail.
  • Keep work area and reception area clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Please document all required qualifications on application materials):
  • Business College, office skills training, university level education, clerical experience involving contact with the public, or a combination of the above totaling at least four years.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing; in clear and understandable English.
  • Must have experience with computers, including email.
  • Must have good verbal communication skills, including phone and in-person interaction with customers or patients.
  • Must have the ability to multi task with minimal or no errors.
  • Candidate must be a team player and keep a professional attitude at all times.
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 6 months experience as a receptionist in a dental office setting.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology.
  • Experience with the use and maintenance of basic office machinery.
  • Experience with fax machines, copy/scan machines, credit card and computerized scheduling.
  • A general understanding of dental insurance and collection of payments.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21.63 - $28.11 USD/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
