Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years experience in a housekeeping role or a supervisory role.

Substitution of Education for Experience: A 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; no work experience required.

Substitution of Experience for Education: One year of housekeeping or supervisory experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Examination Method: Education and Experience,100%, for Preferred Service positions.

Overview

Summary: Under general supervision, responsible for overseeing daily operation of a housekeeping department and performs other work as required

Distinguishing Features: This classification is an entry level supervisory position that is responsible for leading and assisting with the successful completion of daily shift requirements for the cleanliness of guest rooms, cabins, and public spaces. This classification also has oversight over customer service, inventory, training, and management of financial resources.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsibility for administration and supervision of the Housekeeping department in a Tennessee State Park. Employees in this classification are responsible for the successful operation of the housekeeping department and ensuring that their staff meet all established performance and customer service guidelines. This classification may act as the person-in-charge in absence of a manager.
  2. This classification is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of housekeeping staff.
  3. Prepares shift schedules for housekeeping employee based on projected occupancy levels to best manage overtime.
  4. Trains housekeeping staff to successfully perform all housekeeping operations.
  5. Maintains cleaning supplies inventory and ensures that cleaning chemicals are labeled in compliance with OSHA and TOSHA regulations.
  6. Promotes an environment of hospitality to provide great customer service and increase guest satisfaction through guest interaction, efficient communication, resolving disputes, and by addressing situations with guests promptly and professionally.
  7. Manages lodging accommodations using approved property management system (PMS) point-of-sale system and cabin accommodations through Itinio or approved point-of-sale system.
  8. Manages financial resources by reviewing cost per occupied room to make educated purchasing decisions and appropriately staffing department based on occupancy.
  9. Processes housekeeping invoices in a timely manner
  10. Ensure that all safety training and material safety data sheets are available and appropriately organized to ensure that safety standards are met.
