Closing date: 1/13/2025 Who we are and what we do: The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state. The Tennessee Department of Correction operates safe and secure facilities and provides effective community supervision in support of successful reentry. Job overview: The Compliance Specialist I position is assigned to one of the grand regions (East, Middle, and West) to oversee institutional compliance with Department of Justice Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, American Correction Association (ACA) standards, and Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury audits. Duties and responsibilities include attending Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) meetings, participating in SART walkthroughs, conducting mock PREA audits regularly, reviewing Departmental policies related to PREA, distributing news, updates, and training opportunities regarding PREA practices, auditing strategies, and standards to institutional staff. The Compliance Specialist I and II conducts ACA file reviews quarterly for each institution to ensure compliance and readiness for ACA audits, attends annual institutional compliance audits conducted by OIG, attends audits conducted by ACA, and provides support and training assistance to institutional compliance staff. Additionally, the Compliance Specialist I and II prepares audit reports and presentations, participating in the development and review of inspection instruments, and attends PREA and ACA conferences, as requested. This position reports directly to the Audit Director I - External Compliance. Key responsibilities:
