(Remote) NexGen Technologies, Inc. is looking for aGIS Developerto work on a large and dynamic GIS infrastructure supporting critical federal government applications and programs. This individual will be required to work closely with members of NexGen and client's teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical staff, and project managers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Manage GIS data withina multi-user, hybrid on-premises/cloud enterprise geodatabase environment using ESRI's software implemented in a SQL server environment.
- Create and maintain automation scripts to support daily operations and maintenance of an enterprise GIS system.
- Create, modify, and enhance GIS tools and workflows to improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in custom GIS applications.
- Apply and promote good software engineering practices such as test automation, modularization, simplification.
- Collaborate with system administrators and other team members to optimize GIS infrastructure performance and reliability.
- Develop written technical documentation (such as metadata, training materials, workflow diagrams, white papers, etc.).
- Collaborate with the staff to identify, address and mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills:
- Professional experience with ESRI's ArcGIS software includingArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Web Application Builder and Experience Builder Developer Edition.
- Proven experience in GIS application development, data management, and automation for enterprise-level systems.
- Professional knowledge of concepts and principles of geospatial data management, and technical problem-solving skills related to geospatial software, and integrating GIS functionalities into larger IT systems.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell, with working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, XML, Web services, and ArcGIS API.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud-based GIS solutions and infrastructure.
- Additional programming experience in languages like SQL or C#.
- Knowledge of IT best practices for system security, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
- Understanding of Agile development practices and tools, such as DevOps and version control systems (e.g. Git).
Additional Requirements:
- The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
- US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business with at least 5 years of experience specifically in a GIS-related role.
