As the Communications Engineer, VLF (Very Low Frequency), you will support a U.S. Navy, ACAT 1B program, the E-130J, as it transitions into its Engineering and Development (EMD) phase. This position will be based within NAVAIR's Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office (PMA-271) at NAS Patuxent River, MD. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your unique expertise in developing an innovative and groundbreaking aircraft platform.

The Communications Engineer, VLF will:

  • Support lead IPT engineers in support of development, acquisition, modernization, and sustainment efforts across the PMA.
  • Participation in the research and down-select of HF, UHF, and IP Line-of-Sight systems in support of the platform acquisition.
  • Development of cosite mitigation strategies, to include simultaneous operations (SIMOP) strategies for several comms bands.
  • Supporting the platform's Very Low Frequency (VLF) non-recurring engineering (NRE) effort
  • Review and/or development of requirements definition, analysis, verification, and architecture design.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the development of relevant engineering documentation and artifacts.
  • Participating or assisting in relevant Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events and PMRs.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies to translate customer requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule cost, and exportability constraints.
  • Presenting necessary information to stakeholders within the NAVAIR program office environment.
  • Position may require flexibility in working hours.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline, required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of VLF-related systems engineering experience.
  • Experience working within the NAVAIR environment is highly desired.
  • Well-versed in EMD and sustainment efforts.
  • Experience utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools is a plus.

Salary Range:

  • The estimated salary range for this position will be $120,000 - $160,000 annually, based on an individual's level of experience and skill set. It is our goal at ASEC to provide equitable compensation to all employees.
