Overview This leadership position requires a master's degree, with the ideal candidate also being a certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). Preferred candidates will have 3-5 years of specific Pediatric ED RN experience and be a Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN). Hours are typically Monday through Friday 8-hour days but may require occasional weekend time. Areas of focus will include pediatric readiness, patient flow in the pediatric ED, evidence-based practice, and behavioral health process improvements. Levine Children's Emergency Department is a fast paced, high acuity, level one trauma center caring for children from birth to 18 years. We are one of the largest Children's Hospitals in the Southeast and have children coming to us from all over the area for our in-house specialists. Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) has taken the community to another level of service to provide care for the growing population of children in our region. At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It serves high acuity patients as the flagship children's hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 30 different pediatric specialties. We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 10 bed PICU, a 10 bed Cardiac ICU (expanding to 24 bed PICU and 20 bed CVICU by the end of 2024), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children's Hospital is also Charlotte's only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. LCH has been named a Best Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years and is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties. Currently, LCH is ranked as the #1 children's hospital in North Carolina and tied for #1 in the southeastern United States. Magnet designated health care organizations showcase excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes. Job Summary Plans, coordinates, develops and evaluates the operational functions of programs and initiatives, within their area of specialty, to ensure quality, cost effective healthcare is provided. Collaborates with nursing leadership, the Medical Director for the area, and members of the healthcare team to implement evidence-based programs and initiatives. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Essential Functions
Physical Requirements Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stopping, bending, pushing and pulling. Working in fast-paced clinical setting. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Must speak and understand English fluently and have an intact sense of sight, hearing, smells, and finger dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to be mobile with the entire healthcare system and other facilities. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patients and/or program conditions. Education, Experience and Certifications MSN, MHA, or Master's degree in the job-related field of work required; graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state in which one works. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required. Certification in specialty preferred. 2 years nursing experience required; 5 years experience preferred. Project management experience preferred. |
