The Development Officer, Annual Leadership Gifts is a key member of a dynamic team focused on supporting Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Health Foundation's fundraising initiatives in a fast-paced environment. An energetic team player with a flexible work style; s/he will have a sincere interest in philanthropy and advancing the mission of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Health Foundation. This position reports to the VP, Philanthropy/Director of Development.
The Development Officer will manage the Annual Giving programs with an annual revenue goal of $400,000. Programs include Leadership Annual Giving, Employee Campaign Committee, direct mail and email solicitations. S/he manages stewardship activities in support of Foundation donors/prospects, including custom acknowledgements, proposal concepts, appeals, and planning, prepping for and participating in donor meetings and stewardship events with Foundation gift officers, Hospital leadership, and donors/prospects.
S/he manages donor activities, including volunteer leadership groups in a forward moving environment. This includes building relationships with Leadership Annual donors of $1,000+. The Officer will collaborate with other members of the department as needed; and will work with the rest of the fundraising staff in growing fundraising revenues aligned with the Hospital's and Foundation's Strategic Long-Range Plan.

Education/Degree Required
Bachelor's degree

Experience Required
* Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, ideally in a fast-paced development office.
* Exposure to high level fundraising, stewardship and cultivation events preferred.
* Experience with Raiser's Edge or CRM.

SkillsRequired (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)

* Displays a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
* Track record of successful solicitation and demonstrated ability to develop strategies for individual prospects; innovative mastery of gift management and best practices covering individual relationship development and database management.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong proofreading ability
* Highly developed interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
* Superb organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to multitask
* Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
* Ability to anticipate challenges and develop and implement strategies for addressing them.
* Computer proficiency required, using the full suite of Microsoft office applications and the internet and social media
* Ability to travel to meet donors & prospects
* Able to maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs. (occasional evenings, weekends).
* Ability to handle confidential materials with discretion; Familiarity with HIPAA a plus

Preferred
* Proficiency in Raiser's Edge or other constituent relationship management database.
* Understanding of fundraising programs and the principles and practices of a development operation
