2 South Overview
The 2 South inpatient unit consists of 24 psychiatric beds. The inpatient unit is under the overall supervision and medical direction of the Chief of Psychiatry and Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing. It is a multidisciplinary, full service, therapeutic environment with an eclectic approach. It offers intensive individual, group, family, activity, occupational, and somatic therapies within a therapeutic setting run by a team of nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists. Psychological testing and ECT is available when indicated.

  • BSN required. MSN preferred.
  • 2+ years of behavioral healthexperience in an inpatient settingrequired.
  • Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, ALCS required.
  • 2+ years of Charge/Supervisory/Managerial experience preferred.
  • Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. standards.
  • Meets all expectations of staff nurse job description.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Works with the Nursing Director to evaluate practice, recommend change and identify outcomes related to nursing practice.
  • Able to plan and implement educational opportunities.
  • Act as a resource and mentor.
  • Support staff and their educational need.
  • Support Inpatient Psychiatry leadership
  • Work Collaboratively with all departments
  • Must be or be willing to becomea UBC member and actively support and work on new projects to support best practice.
  • Assumes charge role at times.
  • Assumes patient assignment at times
  • Participates in annual Behavioral Health Competencies
  • Participations in Hospital-Wide committees.
