Senior Developer

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Senior Developer to join our US Transportation Command - Global Freight Management team. The Senior Developer will lead the design, development, and deployment of modern, innovative software systems while mentoring junior developers and guiding teams through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This role emphasizes creating scalable, maintainable, and cutting-edge applications, with expertise in Java (Spring Boot), object-oriented programming, and CI/CD pipeline management. The Senior Developer will configure and optimize application servers, ensuring high performance, reliability, and modern security standards, while also troubleshooting and scripting in Linux environments. Strong communication skills are essential to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to advocate for modern development practices.

This position is fully remote.

Exercise leadership in a technical role while training and mentoring other software developers and engineers, promoting modern development practices.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC and lead tasks, assuming responsibility for the design, development, testing, and delivery of a modern software system or application.
• Develop and maintain innovative and robust applications that meet business requirements and industry standards.
• Apply a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and best practices to design scalable, maintainable, and modern software solutions.
• Deploy and manage Java applications, ensuring availability, reliability, scalability, and adherence to modern security standards.
• Configure, monitor, and optimize application servers to ensure high performance, reliability, and enhanced user experience, minimizing downtime.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automating and modernizing the software delivery process to ensure efficient deployment.
• Implement and manage automated testing frameworks to ensure the quality and reliability of software, integrating them into the CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform scripting, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks to support modern application development and deployment.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and understanding across teams, and advocating for modern development methodologies.
• Apply strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about complex technical challenges, finding innovative and modern solutions to meet project objectives.
• Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, adapting to changing requirements and priorities to deliver high-quality, modern software solutions.

• Active Secret Clearance.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role.
• Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other technical discipline related to designing information systems.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and JavaScript with 8+ years of experience developing and maintaining robust applications.
• Skilled in implementing and managing automated testing platforms to ensure robust software performance.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and best practices.
• Experience with Pivotal or Apache Tomcat to deploy and manage Java applications.
• Ability to configure, monitor, and optimize application servers to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Hands-on experience with pipeline tools such as GitLab and Jenkins with the ability to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Prior experience working in Linux environments with the ability to perform scripting, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in using Jira (or similar) for project management, issue tracking, and workflow customization.
• Experience utilizing Confluence (or similar) for documentation, collaboration, and knowledge management.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about complex technical challenges
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
