We are seeking a Professional Engineer, Civil /Structural - Bridge (5 - 10 years of experience).
You will be responsible for designing and analyzing a variety of bridge types, from conventional grade separations to complex highway interchanges and river crossings. These structures may include pre-stressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, cast-in-place concrete, or steel plate girder construction. You will work on diverse project types and gain exposure to both traditional design-bid-build and design-build projects across the country.
TKDA's Bridge Group is at the forefront of designing and analyzing a wide range of bridge types and structural projects. You'll have the opportunity to support and lead multi-disciplined transportation projects, mentor talented team members, and contribute to innovative solutions in both traditional and design-build environments.
We approach all projects from an in-house / one stop shop solution perspective where we leverage our multi-disciplined team to draw on each other's strengths and adapt to changing client needs.
Flexible work arrangement (3 days in office / 2 days WFH)

Responsibilities
  • Designing and analyzing a variety of bridge types, from conventional grade separations to complex highway interchanges and river crossings
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete design and construction methods and applications
  • Handling the design and analysis of retaining walls, drainage culverts, sign structures, and other related elements
  • Utilize structural analysis and load rating software (LEAP Bridge Concrete and Steel, STAAD.Pro, MathCAD, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, ETC.)
  • Work in Microstation to prepare moderately complex studies, construction documents (PS&E), and drawings
  • Mentoring less experienced team members by sharing your knowledge and professional experiences
  • Apply effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills when preparing technical reports, participating in project team meetings, and interacting with clients
  • Reviewing design calculations, analyses, load ratings, estimates, and specifications from other team members and proposing necessary revisions
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in one or more states
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive technical design experience with key structural elements such as bridge superstructure and substructure, beams, columns/piers, and connection and foundation systems
  • Strong working knowledge of the project development process for multi-disciplined transportation projects including coordination with other disciplines during design and construction
  • Flexibility for limited overnight travel to conduct on-site consultations, participate in project meetings, or attend business development events
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) reviews
  • Master's degree in structural engineering
  • Registered as a Structural Engineer in Illinois, California, Oregon, or Washington with demonstrated ability to apply seismic design and analysis
  • Previous experience working on Design-Build projects and interacting directly with contractors
The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 5-10 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
