At the end of your internship you will have a solid understanding of our field construction practices and be fluent in our BIM softwares and processes. You will understand the process to resolve trade conflicts prior to fabrication and construction.

JOB SUMMARY:

Successful projects start with accurate, timely, coordinated models that represent construction and coordination conditions. The BIM Technician Intern will work closely with project teams to provide coordination support for both internal and external BIM coordination to ensure the maximum value of BIM for field teams. The BIM Technician Intern will identify clashes and propose optimal solutions. This shall be done in accordance with company objectives and goals. Interaction with Virtual Construction team members, Project Managers, Field Leaders, General Contractors, and other trade subcontractors will be required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support a project specific internal BIM execution plan that at a minimum includes:

  • VC kick-off meeting defining roles of the PM team, project scope, schedules, and drawing log

  • Support weekly three week look-ahead meeting and progress review with VC team members and project team. Track and share action items in Smartsheet.

  • Project drawing log expectations and schedule

  • Project information flow between VC team, field teams, and project managers

  • Internal BIM Coordination plan to prevent clashes

  • Document clashes, track through Clash Reports, and communicate with trade teams.

  • Ensure timely and efficient resolution of clashes identified during the coordination process

  • Manage BIM file structures with project teams to ensure files are accurately named and current

  • Manage and reconcile project BIM schedules with overall project schedules

  • Model "scope gaps" necessary for coordination of overhead MEP trades

  • Archive process for coordinated signed off models

  • Ensure information (backgrounds, construction documents, submittals, RFIs, and drawing logs) is available in a timely manner for VC team members to meet project schedules and goals

  • Ensure company standards are consistently maintained with respect to shop drawing file structures

  • Develop, manipulate, and maintain 3D models for specific projects for internal use in Estimating and Construction Operations.

  • Support point cloud registration from laser scan models and incorporate into coordination efforts when appropriate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma

  • Registered in a two (2) year Associates Program or four (4) year BS Building Information Modeling Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar coursework.

  • Revit 2019 or higher: One (1) year.

  • Must have advanced PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and Web-enabled applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with Navisworks, BIM 360 Glue, and/or Autodesk Fabrication

  • Ability to convey technical requirements/systems in fundamental terms.

  • Experience with computer programming languages.

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural documents.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing design and shop drawings.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.

  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

  • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.

  • Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continued education on CAD and BIM technologies to differentiate McKenney's in the marketplace.

  • Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Occasional jobsite visits that require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs and ladders, passenger use of construction personnel hoists and ability to negotiate work areas under construction

  • Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 25 pounds may be required occasionally.
