Posting Summary
Performs complex evidence synthesis or computational simulation modeling of biodiversity data. Documents the work performed maintains all databases that result from research output and develops information for research papers. Consult with the Director of the Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute ( RCEI), other RCEI staff, and members of the leadership team in the preparation of proposals, grant applications, and annual progress reports. Is responsible for the preparation of a wide variety of peer-reviewed publications, and acts as a point of contact for both internal and external collaborators. Completes work independently, with broadly defined work objectives and limited review of overall results. Performs professional work that requires specialized knowledge of biodiversity research, and has a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of biodiversity research.

Minimum Education and Experience
Requires PhD degree in ecological sciences or closely related field. Requires evidence of excellent communication skills in professional settings. Proven skill in database construction, scientific writing, and complex project management. Knowledge of renewable energy production systems, economics, or policy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires advanced knowledge of ecology, biodiversity policy, or closely related fields, and techniques of evidence synthesis or simulation modeling.
Equipment Utilized
Advanced computing systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in a variety of outdoor environments.
Overview
60% 1. Works independently and creatively to solve complex problems in a rapidly developing discipline. Develops novel evidence synthesis or simulation modelling analysis techniques, and publishes resulting research outputs in peer-reviewed scientific or policy journals.
20% 2. Collects and maintains data generated from independent research; provides analyses of collected data for peer-reviewed publications, granting agency annual reports, and use by collaborating organizations
10% 3. Maintains professional research contacts with other biodiversity and/or renewable energy research groups (US-based and international).
10% 4. In collaboration with PI, pursues external funding sources such as grants and contracts from state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations and industry. Serves as the primary point of technical contact for biodiversity and renewable energy grants/contracts with federal and state agencies, non-profit organizations and industry. This includes coordinating research plans, serving as biodiversity expert, and overseeing contract/grant processing.
Statement
This is a grant funded position renewable up to one year contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.
