Summary:

Designs, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive education curriculum for high-risk asthma patients and their families. Delivers community-based education programs to school-based audiences such as coaches, trainers, and school nurses, and supports patients and families in managing asthma care and overcoming health literacy challenges to manage the diagnosis. Plans and evaluates community workshops, conferences, and other educational events. Works closely with the Center for Community Health staff to ensure effective outreach. Acts as a backup educator for inpatient needs during peak seasons, ensuring continuity of care and education for asthma patients and families during high volume periods or staffing shortages. Travel to schools and community events within the service area, using personal transportation is required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Certified asthma educator.
  • 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Two years of experience in education or training required.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

  • BLS required
  • PALS required
  • Certified Asthma Educator certification required
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
