Essential Job Functions |
- Supervising and mentoring of the student maintenance crew
- Facility and equipment maintenance, repairs, and renovations
- Supporting UREC through assisting with setup and breakdown for programs and events
- Serving as Project Lead for all electrical and plumbing repairs and renovations
- Snow/Ice removal as needed at all UREC facilities
- Assisting other maintenance mechanics as needed

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
- Experience in the following trades areas: Electrical and Plumbing
- Experience in operating a variety of power tools including drills, saws, sanders, etc.
- Experience in operating a variety of equipment including tractors, lawnmowers, weed eaters, pressure washers, snow blowers, etc.
- Experience in the use of a multi-meter
- Experience in carpentry, painting, drywall repair, carpet replacement, etc.
- Experience or the ability to learn how to diagnose issues and repair floor cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, ride on scrubbers, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and vacuums.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, students, and participants in a manner that allows for work to be completed without compromising safety or the participant experience.
- Experience with using computers for email, inventory control, performance management functions, payroll functions, etc.
- Ability to operate ASU vehicles with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Physical Demands of Position |
Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitious for 10-15 times employee will be required to lift heavy objects, pull and/or push heavy objects, each day. The job is a very hands on type of position. The employee will be working with his/her hands and it requires a lot of physical effort. The person may be required to work in inclement weather if needed. |

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties. |
Knowlege, Techincal: Perform a variety of recurring and non-recurring tasks/functions related to preventative maintenance and repairs to facilities, equipment, and tools. Assist with maintaining all areas of facilities and equipment in
UREC. Complete daily inspection of all areas for cleanliness and/or needed repairs. Mentor student employees. Provide technical assistance by troubleshooting facility and equipment maintenance issues and determining their cause. Operate all types of power equipment and tools. Snow/ice removal as needed with snow blower and tractor.
Problem Solving: Identify any problems or issues with facilities and/or equipment and identify options for solving the problems or issues. Handle facility maintenance problems or issues that require the application of journey level trades knowledge and determine the most effective and efficient course of action. Evaluates options and chooses appropriate action by considering potential outcomes.
Safety and Health Compliance: Always performs work following existing safety and health policies and procedures. Follows manufacturer's guidelines for operating and maintaining all equipment and tools. Attends all relevant training classes/meetings and maintains all relevant certifications. |
