Assistant Controller

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller will utilize specialized skills obtained through education and experience to provide analysis and input on A/P, A/R and Treasury transactions with a critical view on process enhancement. This position is also responsible for maintaining relevant departmental training materials and ensuring staff are provided with these materials. This position will be required to assist on a variety of projects. Compensation starts at $70K, but is negotiable depending on experience.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Assist with the preparation of reports on company's financial performance
  • Assist with the completion of company audits
  • Produce data relating to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury departments
  • Maintain training material for all accounting departments
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators based on input from department VP's and/or department managers and report Key Performance Indicators on a weekly basis to VP's, Controller, and CFO
  • Assist General Ledger with bank account and general ledger account reconciliation as necessary
  • Assist Controller with streamlining processes throughout all departments and communicating with VP's and managers to effectively implement process improvements
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent errors in financial reporting
  • Reconcile A/R and A/P each month
  • Respond timely to e-mails and phone requests from internal and external parties
  • Assist Controller with projects as necessary
  • Assist all departments as necessary and other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of company software
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis

Required Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Required: 3 years of Accounting/Finance and management experience

  • May require occasional travel
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Frequent use of telephone
  • Occasionally lifting objects up to 30 pounds
