Position Summary:

The Vice President of Private Brands will lead the development, execution, and growth strategy for the company's private label portfolio. This individual will be responsible for driving category innovation, enhancing brand equity, and ensuring the financial success of private label products. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the VP will oversee brand development, product strategy, and go-to-market execution to position the private labels as leaders in the market.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:



  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a long-term strategy for the private brands portfolio to drive revenue, profitability, and market share growth.
  • Merchandising: Entrepreneurial approach to drive alongside the Merchandising team to develop assortments that align with brand strategies and customer preference while defining category plans, pricing strategies, and product placement to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Product Development and Innovation: Lead the product development teams to identify opportunities for market voids, differentiation, and innovation while ensuring products meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Brand Development and Management: Oversee the end-to-end brand creation process, including brand identity, positioning, messaging, and visual storytelling.
  • Brand Promotion with Marketing: Partner with Marketing teams to create integrated campaigns spanning digital, social media, in-store promotions, and experiential marketing.
  • Collaboration with Retail Operations: Ensure alignment on distribution channels, product launches, promotional strategies, and in-store space.
  • Supply Chain Partnership: Optimize the end-to-end supply chain footprint focusing on importation, tariffs, and the relationship with overseas manufacturers. Build strong supplier relationships and implement innovative technologies to enhance efficiency, manage risks, and drive business goals.
  • Financial and Operational Accountability: Set and monitor KPIs for revenue, margin, and category performance. Develop and manage budgets for the private brands division.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred); or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • 10+ years of experience in retail, consumer goods, or private label brand management.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling private label brands and driving profitability.
  • Strong background in product development, sourcing, and supply chain management.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of identifying growth opportunities.
  • Expertise in market analysis, branding, and category management.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze performance metrics and P&L statements.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and data analytics platforms.

Pay Rate: $200,000 - $250,000/yr depending on background and experience. This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.
