Job Summary:

The Clinical Toxicology Liaison will act as a scientific liaison, supporting customer-facing activities and advancing our portfolio of tests in the areas of therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs of abuse, and umbilical cord testing, while representing NMS Labs in scientific forums. This position combines analytical expertise, customer engagement and thought leadership to drive excellence in clinical toxicology and ensure clients' needs are met with cutting edge solutions.

Requirements:

Required:

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D., Pharm. D. or equivalent) in Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology or a related field.
  • *Must have completion of at least 24 semester hours in chemistry including general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry (to include instrumentation), 1 interpretive science course (e.g., biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, etc.), 1 statistics course, and a graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • At least 6 years relevant experience in clinical toxicology working within a hospital, health system or equivalent setting.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in a reference toxicology lab or hospital/health system setting.
  • Familiarity with lab operations and regulatory standards such as CAP and CLIA.
  • History of collaborations with sales and marketing teams to drive client engagement and growth.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical and Technical Expertise

  • Provide expert interpretation of results for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), drugs of abuse and umbilical cord testing, ensuring clinical relevance and accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to healthcare providers on test selection, result interpretation and clinical implications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Sales, R&D, Associate Lab Directors, Lab Managers, etc) to enhance test performance and improve clinical utility.
  • Lead the Clinical Strategy Team to help develop innovative ideas to maintain NMS' market leadership within specific test categories.
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence group to develop data initiatives to serve clinical clients; these initiatives may include client specific positivity reports and trend reports.

Customer Engagement

  • Partner with Business Development Managers to assist in customer calls, providing technical expertise in support of new and existing accounts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clinicians, researchers and laboratory clients to address their needs and concerns.
  • Delivery high quality presentations to educate clients and potential customers about our services and capabilities.

Scientific Advocacy

  • Develop and execute publication plans including authoring articles, case studies or white papers to highlight NMS Labs' expertise.
  • Ability to take large amounts of data generated from specific test results to creatively enhance NMS'

offerings of valued added solutions

  • Represent NMS Labs at national and international scientific conferences through presentations, posters and networking.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in toxicology to incorporate innovative approaches and maintain NMS Labs' leadership in the field.

Test Portfolio Development

  • Provide strategic input on the current and future test portfolio, identifying gaps and opportunities for expansion.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to design and validate new assays and refine existing offerings.
  • Advise on best practices for clinical applications of the test portfolio, ensuring alignment with clients needs and market trends.
  • Customer- focused mindset with excellent problem- solving and relationship-building skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical toxicology techniques, including mass spectrometry and chromatography.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex toxicology concepts to diverse audiences, including healthcare providers and sales teams.
  • Proficiency in creating and delivering scientific presentations for conference or client meetings.
  • A proven track record of scientific publications, case studies or other contributions to the toxicology field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional areas, R&D, lab operations, sales and marketing.
  • Ability to influence others through scientific analyses, data presentations and publications.
  • Demonstrate capability to think creatively and analytically.
  • Travel to scientific conferences and NMS headquarters as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, use office equipment, and manipulate tools or instruments as necessary.
  • Capacity to move between work locations and remain seated or standing for extended periods.
