Position Summary

Perform inventory and documentation of City network, infrastructure and mobile devices. Build new PCs and laptops and troubleshoots hardware issues. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Part-time, casual, non-represented position

Approximately 20 hours/week

Flexible schedule M-F during normal business hours

Must meet all qualifications and requirements as listed in the position description.

IT staff provide robust and feature-rich computer services to all City departments through their commitment to excellent performance and high reliability. Services range from enterprise core infrastructure to complex data analytics and aggregation for superior visibility into all areas of the organization.



Essential Functions

Conducts inventory / asset management and documentation of endpoints and mobile communication devices.

Builds new PCs and laptops, troubleshoot hardware issues and escalates as required. Uses available tools to ensure all new and updated hardware are in correct IT system structures.

Participates in PC and mobile device decommissioning.

Works effectively with IT staff and City employees.

Assists with answering helpdesk calls and triaging tickets. Resets passwords and updates general and group attributes for users.

Complies with all IT procedures when performing all duties.

Complies with all safety rules and performs work in a safe manner.

Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences. Responds to customer service requests, questions and complaints. Maintains a positive customer service demeanor and delivers service in a respectful and patient manner.

Maintains effective work relationships.

Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.

Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions. Builds confidence in the City through own actions.

Complies with all Administrative Policies. Performs work in accordance with Council Policies and Municipal Code sections applicable to position.


Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and current enrollment in or completion of associates and/or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Email client, Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio preferred.

Familiarity with hardware and software programs and a general knowledge of routine office work and personal computing, including use of office equipment and standard office software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to organize own work, follow instructions, multi-task and seek assistance when appropriate.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to get along well with co-workers and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.

Special Requirements
Ability to possess and maintain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security clearance and requirements.
