Summary
Responsible to assess, provide and document spiritual care to patients, families, visitors and staff. Patients are seen at the bedside or in outpatient settings as assigned. Involved in all aspects of care including but not limited to team meetings, family team meetings and goals of care discussions. Staff support is provided through 1:1 encounters and group gatherings in the units and other locations as needed. Also charged with developing and leading hospital-wide and community faith-specific and interfaith services. Work as team members in accordance with the department's mission and vision statements. Essential Functions *Counsel individuals or groups concerning their spiritual, emotional, or personal needs. *Respond to requests for assistance during emergencies or crises. *Visit people in homes, hospitals, or prisons to provide them with comfort and support. *Ensure that patients have access to any needed religious rites or sacraments. *Meet and collaborate with the department team. Required for All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Does this position require Patient Care (indirect/direct)? Yes Experience * 1 year as a chaplain or chaplain resident. * At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Excellent listening and verbal communication skills. * Collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to meet the holistic needs of patients. * Spiritual Care is personalized to each patient or family members to meet their needs. * Knowledge of diverse religious cultural practices, health care ethics, grief and bereavement counseling techniques * Excellent work organization skills.
