Marine Bank and Trust in Carthage, IL, a United Community Bank, is in search of an Investment Assistant. This position will provide administrative support for the Financial Advisor and a liaison for existing and potential investment customers. This position will also provide clerical and other support for the Trust Department.




Job Description



This position will directly report to the Director of Wealth Management of Marine Bank. The candidate will have direct communication and coordination with not only the Director of Wealth Management but also the Trust team for the Bank and provide support and backup in the Trust area. This entry level position will require training in stages and does not limit the individual from further advancement if performance warrants pursuit of brokerage licensing.

Duties:




  • Interaction with current and potential Investment and Trust clients



  • Prepare and review documents



  • Organize and file documents



  • Take calls and schedule appointments and make calls to set up appointments



  • Operations backup for existing Trust Dept assistant, specifically scanning and posting



  • Collect and prepare information for presentations



  • Point of contact with local customers, attorneys, CPA's, etc.



  • Order supplies and stock



  • Post check deposits and maintain file



  • Shred documents according to retention schedule



  • Assist with phone calls



  • Cross sell bank products



  • Facilitate direction from and/or convey information to Financial Advisor



  • Present potential trades, purchases, and/or sales to Financial Advisor for accounts



  • Contact and resolution with 3rd party providers



  • Maintain necessary documentation, images, and work-flow requirements with Financial Advisor for Marine location



  • Become able to explain key features of different types of investments



  • Become able to explain the key features of different types of retirement plans




REQUIREMENTS:




  • Preferred completion of post-secondary education, but not required



  • 3-5 years banking or similar financial sector experience preferred



  • Ability to communicate effectively as well as detailed listening comprehension



  • Strong mathematical ability and understanding of basic accounting, tax, and finance principals



  • High capacity for technology applications and execution




Computer requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point). Calculator, check imaging, and scanning equipment.

Working conditions: This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, typewriters, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Attendance requirement: Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided. This is a full- time position working Monday thru Friday and may require occasional Saturday hours.

Physical requirements:




  • Ability to sit for up to eight hours



  • Requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary



  • Requires the ability to hear, speak and/or signal people



  • Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and in English



  • Requires manual dexterity, typing, and the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets



  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds




Salary Range: 16.00-18.00 per hour

A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including applicable experience, training and education.
