We are seeking a skilled Protection and Controls Engineer to join our team.
This role involves designing and maintaining electric substation, transmission line, and generation equipment control and fault protection systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with other System Protection Engineers on various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop systems for substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment control and fault protection.
* Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA.
* Analyze system ratings and provide data to reporting agencies.
* Produce project scopes and cost estimates.
* Assist operations and construction personnel in troubleshooting and technical duties.
* Prepare and review technical drawings and specifications.
* Supervise designers and technicians to ensure compliance with safety and regulations.
Mandatory Qualifications:
* Bachelor's, Associate's, or technical degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program, or relevant experience.
* Utility experience related to substation, generation, and transmission line equipment control and fault protection systems.
* Knowledge of basic engineering principles, advanced mathematics, and electric power engineering.
* Ability to develop drawings, relay logic, and settings for system protection designs.
* Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
* Effective communication skills and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
* Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-stress environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Utility substation experience.
* 3-5 years of protection and controls design experience.
* Experience in schematic development (ACDC, three-line).
* Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam software.
* Familiarity with drawing repository systems like AutoCAD Vault.
Interview Process:
* One interview lasting over an hour with the manager and two team members in person.
Estimated Min Rate: $49.00
Estimated Max Rate: $70.00
