Mechanical Test & Validation Engineer 2 Employment Type: Contract Mechanical Test & Validation Engineer 2 Position Overview This position involves programming and maintaining software tools and databases for Tier 1 Automotive Vehicles and VAN vehicle durability testing fleets in the United States. The role focuses on delivering high-quality test results efficiently and within tight timeframes. Primary responsibilities include vehicle durability testing and validation of vehicle, powertrain, and drivetrain systems, covering both software and hardware validation, as well as regulatory and emissions testing.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of current automotive technology, vehicle electrical systems, onboard diagnostics, and communication architectures.
- Familiarity with vehicle assembly structures, modules, parts, and overall vehicle functions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, MATLAB, and MS Excel VBA.
- Expertise in database programming, data structures, algorithms, testing procedures, debugging, and operating systems.
- Ability to create, maintain, and enhance software tools for data analysis, reporting, and tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from conception to implementation.
- Competence in tracking and controlling Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and preparing effective reports.
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues.
- Capability to develop and evaluate alternative solutions using established criteria and sound decision-making.
- Experience working in intercultural environments and complex organizational structures.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, ensuring effective teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in vehicle durability testing, including powertrain and drivetrain systems, as well as emissions testing and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and fault tracking, including detailed analysis of vehicle issues.
- Knowledge of advanced text editing software for data and report generation.
- Participation in continuous process improvements and the ability to lead preparations for future service requirements.
- Strong understanding of endurance testing planning and forecasting for long-term vehicle testing strategies.
Estimated Min Rate: $45.00
Estimated Max Rate: $50.00
