Summary
Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and engineering detail for the construction, installation, and maintenance of GP&L facilities and equipment. Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) regulations. Also, responsible for ensuring reliable and economical design and documentation in the construction, installation and maintenance of distribution facilities. Pay Range: $90,704.64 - 121,357.35 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate project activities with divisions, departments and organizations, including GP&L, City of Garland departments, and other foreign utility entities. Develop drawings, diagrams for complex distribution projects to install, modify, maintain, and/or enhance the distribution system. Provide oversight of design drawings, diagrams and plans for replacements and upgrades of utility facilities. Coordinate and oversee engineering firms contracted to design distribution facilities. Oversee and ensure the proper installation, maintenance and removal of equipment and apparatus. Identify and implement project concepts and design criteria, including: specifying equipment; defining scope of work; and developing and implementing service contracts. Research and review design drawings, specifications, bill of materials, etc., to ensure appropriate response and suitable facilities. Assist with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the distribution system and equipment failures. Prepare and assist with engineering concepts, design, procurement of materials and equipment. Perform field inspection of construction and/or installations to ensure conformance to design, security and reliability of the system following any changes to construction, as-built records, or documentation
Minimum Qualifications
4 year college degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, or Electric or Civil Technology 4-6 years of related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

TX PE Certification or ability to obtain one within one year of hire Post-graduate work in Electrical or Civil Engineering (ME) and/or MBA 4 or more years Distribution, System Protection, or Distribution Line Maintenance, Construction or Design Project Management Professional (PMP) 1-2 years in supervisory or managerial role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Skill in Microsoft Office and Project Management software Proficient knowledge of substation and/or transmission line design/construction methods and practices Proficient knowledge of electric utility system operations Proficiency in use of computer-aided design, simulation tools and modeling software applications Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC); North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC); Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and/or other regulatory agencies' standards and practices Knowledge of engineering project planning and budgeting Knowledge of project management; engineering specifications; construction permitting, site approvals. Strong oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills
