The Human Resources team is looking to expand our team and hire multiple Human Resources Generalist I. This position requires a person with initiative and the ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and complex work environment. The successful candidate will join a team that supports all HR functions. You will assist with developing, coordinating, and implementing the University's human resource strategy so that the team attracts, manages, and retains the employees it needs to achieve its current and future objectives at the University of Arizona. In coordination with other human resource team members, you will review changes in policies or best practices, discuss upcoming projects and transactions, and areas for process improvement within the human resources department. The Division of Human Resources has recently modernized and centralized the human resources functions to create alignment and unification across the University. Our team consists of Senior HR Partners, HR Generalists, HR Systems Support, Compensation, Workforce Systems (HRIS), Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Wellness, Professional Development and Leaves Management. As a centralized team, we support leaders, faculty, staff, researchers, and students in 22 colleges, with over 150+ majors, centers, and institutes. The HR Generalist I role will assist in assigned areas and departments, with an opportunity to float into other units. Based on your assignment, we may be able to offer a hybrid work schedule of up to 2 days working remotely. There will be consistent in-person workdays for all openings. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Administer
the institution's human resource information system (HRIS) data entry for staff, faculty, postdocs, student workers, graduate assistants and leadership. - Maintain
accurate and secure employee records. These HRIS data entry transactions may include job changes, new hires, terminations, and MSS transactions. - May
update, and close out job postings on the on-line application and applicant tracking system, Talent, to ensure timely disposition of recruitments. - May
draft offer letters and work with related items for making offers and onboarding new employees. - Supports
HR team with preparation of analyzing position description forms, mapping positions to appropriate job classifications, preparing new position descriptions, and revising existing descriptions as needed. Interpret and provide direction to management and staff on ABOR policies, university rules and procedures involving employment, affirmative action, employer and employee relations, University Staff administration, training, benefits and organizational development. - Assist
with coordinating and administering a variety of programs and activities covering multiple HR activities. - Assist
departmental supervisors and managers with onboarding new employees. - May
Coordinate hiring process and verify I-9 documentation, and complete E-Verify. - Communicate
status of actions to supervisor in order to mitigate problems and delays. - Connect
and work in tandem with or outsource to HR specialized units, such as Recruitment, Leaves, Compensation, and OLAD. - Maintain
a working relationship with leaders and staff by assisting with inquiries from employees. - Additional
duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Communication
and interpersonal skills to build relationships with employees, leaders, faculty, researchers and students. - Ability
to be dynamic and work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. - Ability
to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders. - Strong
problem solving, analytical and organizational [CR(1] skills - Knowledge
of and skill in interpreting and applying state and federal statutes and ABOR, University and department policies and procedures. - Knowledge
and skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)Ability to work in multiple HRIS systems or transfer information from one system to another. - Ability to maintain a high level of
confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience required.
|
Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous work experience in a HR setting.
- Previous experience in a position that reports up to HR or is within the HR department.
- Previous work experience in a college or university setting.
- Previous work experience in various areas of HR such as, but not limited to, benefits, compensation, recruitment, etc.
- Experience with direct customer service.
- Experience with ATS (preferably Cornerstone).
- Experience with UAccess Systems: Employee and Analytics.
- Experience with University of Arizona policies and procedures.
