Senior Funding Resources Specialist - McAllen, TX!
The Senior Funding Resources Specialist is involved in identifying high value funding opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Specialist leads major funding initiatives, collaborates with senior leadership, and ensures that all funding efforts align with the firm's long-term goals. This position will be hybrid or remote and focus primarily on the Houston, San Antonio, and Rio Grande Valley areas of Texas. Secondarily, this position will assist with grants and grant funding strategies for all Halff geographies, including the rest of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Florida. Knowledge of federal, state, and local grants and State Revolving Fund loans is required. Understanding of local Metropolitan Planning Organization and Council of Government funding is a plus.
Level:
Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing and executing the firm's strategy for securing funding, including high value grants and large-scale contracts.
- Leads complex, high-stakes proposal processes and oversees submission of major funding applications.
- Establishes and nurtures relationships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector funders.
- Works closely with senior leadership to align funding efforts with the firm's business objectives and growth strategies.
- Mentors and develops junior funding staff, providing guidance on research, proposal development, and relationship management.
- Evaluates the firm's current funding efforts and identifies areas for improvement and growth.
- Acts as the firm's representative in high-level discussions with funding sources and industry partners.
- Stays current on trends in funding, grant writing, and public-private financing opportunities relevant to the engineering industry.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of funding processes, including large-scale grants and infrastructure loans.
- Proven ability to lead complex proposal and funding efforts.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers.
- Deep understanding of government regulations and funding compliance.
- Ability to build and manage relationships with high-level external stakeholders.
- Expert-level proficiency in funding databases and project management software.
- Ability to lead and inspire a project team, fostering growth and development.
- High degree of professionalism and ability to represent the firm externally.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to assess risks and opportunities.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in funding, business development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in securing large-scale funding for complex projects.
- Experience in an engineering or consulting firm preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
