Key Responsibilities:



  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and accident prevention procedures.
  • Supervise and manage Foreman, Labor, and other personnel, ensuring performance meets expectations and customer needs.
  • Manage daily labor needs, ordering appropriately and controlling overtime costs.
  • Collaborate with M&R/Terminal Departments for efficient equipment allocation.
  • Maintain positive labor relations and adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Proactively address employee performance issues and take corrective actions as needed
  • Advise leadership on labor matters and assist with complaint resolution.
  • Provide regular training and feedback to staff.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operating procedures.
  • Ensure certifications and training are current for all staff.
  • Enforce company policies, controls, procedures and ensure timely reporting.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule (shift work).



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years supervisory experience
  • 1 + years experience with computerized operating systems
  • Obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Valid US Driver's License



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Understanding of cargo stowage and stability.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, plan effectively, influence others, and make sound decisions.



Physical Working Attributes:



  • Work on ships, climbing up and down a ladder on a vessel during shift
  • Work in changing climates based on weather conditions.
  • Work in an environment with fast moving equipment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear well.
  • Lift, push, and or pull up to 30lbs.
