Iteris is seeking a Director, Accounting to lead the general accounting team. Reporting to the Vice President & Controller, you will be responsible for the integrity of the general ledger and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting function.

What you will be doing:




  • Lead and manage the general ledger accounting team and ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Oversee various accounting operations, including, accounts payables, accounts receivables, procurement, banking, accruals, payroll, sales taxes, property taxes, provision for income taxes, inventory, intercompany, flux analysis, account reconciliations
  • Manage the monthly accounting close process to ensure accurate and timely completion of close and account reconciliations
  • Review and/or prepare technical accounting research memos
  • Own all aspects of general accounting with a hands-on approach to review and oversight
  • Deliver monthly financial reports with narratives describing change drivers
  • Work with internal and external auditors on requests and inquiries for internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with tax department, manage tax requests and perform review of tax provision and returns
  • Draft and maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee, mentor, support and develop the accounting team while driving process improvements
  • Coordinate with financial reporting team on deliverables to ensure quarterly financials are accurate and timely
  • Oversee quarterly reviews and annual audits with respect to areas of responsibility
  • Oversee overhead rate audits and ensure timely and accurate completion of audits
  • Champion process improvements and provide guidance to accounting team on best practices
  • Work with IT developers on system issues and process improvements
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned



What you need to be successful in this role:




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Over seven (7) years of accounting experience, including at least three (3) years of public accounting experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal controls. Knowledge of IFRS preferred
  • Knowledge of performing technical accounting research
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Working knowledge of inventory accounting
  • Working knowledge of tax provision preferred
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Hands on approach to management
  • Experience with Oracle preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and apply good judgment



Iteris anticipates paying between $175,000 and $195,000 for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
