Job Description

The Technical Support (TSS) Phlebotomy Supervisor provides direct leadership to the TSS Day Shift phlebotomists to maintain smooth and efficient daily operations of the pre-analytical processes (collection and clerical) of the Laboratory. In cooperation with TSS Clerical Supervisor, schedules and adjusts TSS day shift staffing, prioritizes orders and requests, makes work assignments, and arranges rest periods that promote teamwork and produce accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory information for clinicians. Participates in TSS staff recruitment, retention, training, and development. Provides initial phlebotomy orientation and assessment of phlebotomy skills of new staff. Provides assessments, training, and performance evaluations to ensure continuing competency of TSS Phlebotomy personnel. Participates in development and implementation of new services, techniques, and equipment within the scope of laboratory pre-analytical processes. Also provides direct patient care within the scope of TSS competencies and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduate (Associate degree or MLT certification encouraged, but not required).

Three (3) years of hospital phlebotomy experience with knowledge of capillary collection techniques.

One (1) year of outpatient client service experience preferred.

Able to speak, read, and write English.

Able to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Able to work flexible hours when necessary (10-hour shift, start at 4:30am, etc.).

Certification/Licenses

Phlebotomist (CDPH) - California Department of Public Health - Laboratory Field Services; both as clinician and instructor.

Salary Range:

$39.87 - $59.81 USD Hourly
