We value and rely on the unique talents and contributions of our employees to absolutely excel in member engagement by Delivering Signature Experience.Salary Grade: 162ESalary Pay Range for This Position: $130,662.00 - $202,572.00POSITION SUMMARY: The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for the development, modernization, and implementation of a risk-based Audit Plan, including the effective and timely execution of the plan in accordance with the Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) standards. Responsible for the management and execution of multiple audits throughout planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue validation for the Credit Union that address all key risk factors (regulatory, financial, operational, strategic, credit, and liquidity). Oversees day-today operations and manages individual development of staff. Responsible for helping select external support and directs completion of projects. The Manager may perform audits as the Auditor-in-Charge (AIC), as needed, for complex areas, to train, or to supplement staffing needs. This position is accountable for the quality of judgment calls made by staff, including audit results, and has responsibility for internal stakeholder relationship management across the Credit Union. The Manager will be responsible for performing independent validation on regulatory examination finding remediation. Responsible for ensuring completion of continuing education requirements for the team. Bachelor's degree and ability to work in both the Pasadena and Anaheim location are required. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Key contributor to Internal Audit methodology alongside the Vice President, who is the Chief Audit Executive (CAE), in the continuous development of Internal Audit's Risk Assessment and audit methodologies. Responsible for helping modernize the Internal Audit standards in conjunction with the CAE and to align audit activities to the strategic initiatives, business objectives, and regulatory expectations. Responsible for the tracking and execution of the Audit Plan, including day-to-day operations of the audit activities. Develop, prepare, and report on KPIs related to execution of all phases of the audit and special engagements. Anticipate and report on delays or changes to the Audit Plan. Responsible for understanding and communicating emerging risks (technology, regulatory, financial) to the VP, audit staff, and clients; ensuring necessary adjustments to the risk assessments, Audit Plan, and audit programs are made. Responsible for monitoring changes to laws, regulations and guidance with NCUA and DFPI and updating the relevant audit materials. Direct the development of the audit strategy, objectives, scope that effectively address risks to the organization. Ensure the employment of audit analytics in all engagements. Provide Level 2 approval of a comprehensive audit-level Risk & Control Matrix (RCM) to identify enterprise and process-level risks and key control points. Approve the release of Issue Memos and Audit Reports that are clear, concise, factual, and convincing. Evaluate management's remedial action plan to ensure sustainable management of risk and ability for audit staff to efficiently validate completion. For complex or sensitive areas, supervise walkthroughs and interviews and approve workpapers that address the objectives of the audit program and support the conclusions reached during testing. Provide constructive and timely written coaching notes to staff. Demonstrate appropriate written and verbal communication to all internal and external parties including Audit Committee, President's Staff, Executive Team, and Management team, and external regulators as needed. Manage the issue validation process to ensure completion and effectiveness of management's corrective actions to internal and external audit recommendations. Responsible for working with stakeholders and performing independent validation of all regulatory examination (NCUA and DFPI) findings. Ensure that closure of high-risk issues are escalated to the CAE for secondary approval. Ensure the effective use of audit resources, including leveraging technology - use of the audit management system (AMS) and CAAT. Responsible for the effectiveness and user acceptance of the AMS for staff and audit clients. Ensure presence and effectiveness of subject-matter-expertise in each engagement, while prioritizing staff development. Ensure completion of internal continuing education requirements of staff (trainings, webinars) Market the department to internal stakeholders. Model the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, the Institute of Internal Auditors' Code of Ethics, Wescom's core values, and Internal Audit's Guiding Principles in performing audits and representing the Wescom brand. Develop and maintain staff, management, and stakeholder confidence. Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit operations, including evolving the audit methodology and updating audit workpaper templates. Perform special reviews, investigations, consulting work requested of the Audit Committee and senior management. May assist in non-audit operations activities related to the Audit Committee, regulatory examiners, and external auditors as needed by the department. COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION: Member of Management Team: Joins with all members of management to review and address member service delivery and related functions, operational policies, employee issues, quality control problems, planning items, and other Wescom activities. The position is eligible for the Credit Union's Management Team Incentive Program and Team Award. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience required. Previous financial industry and customer service experience preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related business field is required. A minimum of eight years of combined experience in public accounting or internal audit in the credit union, banking, or financial services industry. A minimum of two years managing audit staff in a direct reporting manner. Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or other professional certification required or in progress. Experience managing day-to-day operations of the department, training staff on-the-job, create staff development plans including remedial coaching. Ability to customize training needs of individual staff and develop unique plans for each staff. Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire staff production and loyalty. Develop and manage audit schedules, budgets and resource requirements to ensure timely completion of the Audit Plan. Strong project management and time management skills are required. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs). Ensure adherence to the KPIs, providing rationale or remedial plan for non-adherence to KPIs. Coach staff on the development of audit objectives and preparation of audit programs based on an appropriate risk-based methodology. Make effective recommendations for improving the Credit Union's control environment. Strong risk assessment knowledge is required. Experience in using and training staff on analytic testing. Working knowledge, skills, and experience in applying the principles and practices of internal auditing in accounting, financial, and operational environments, including auditing business functions and information systems in the financial services industry. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and environment and rapidly develop in-depth knowledge of new audit areas. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills required. Ability to persuade and articulate positions. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), computer assisted audit techniques (CAAT), audit management applications, GRC systems, and core banking systems. Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
