Job purpose

Assist in the preparation and serving of meals for residential clients according to MN Statute 4665.3000 and established policies. Maintain a sanitary environment in the kitchen and dining room.

Pay Range: $13.65-$18.67 an hour

Duties and responsibilities

The following duties are routine for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.



  • Wear assigned cap and/or hairnet and apron.
  • Assist with preparation of meals that are attractive, palatable and meet the dietary needs of clients with medically restricted nutritional plans.
  • Assist with preparation evening snacks, birthday desserts, and other special occasion needs.
  • Label and store all leftovers and open food packages/containers as per law and ensure proper storage in coolers, fridges, and freezers.
  • Follow all food safety laws and regulations as per law.
  • Track temperature control with coolers, freezers, and fridges.
  • Stock dining room with designated food.
  • Assist in washing dishes. Follow the cleaning schedule of the kitchen and dining area which includes all kitchen storage areas, walk ways, fridges, freezers, coolers, baking area, cooking area, prepping area, dining room, garbage cans, and all aspects of the kitchen and dining area.
  • Wipe of tables, vacuum, and clean counter area in the dining room after each meal or event.
  • Sweep and mop entire kitchen area daily and walkways, storage areas, and other floors weekly.
  • Clean grill after every use.
  • Clean grease trap on grill, pans under the stove burners, stove hood, and oven with oven cleaner weekly.
  • Breakdown all boxes and cans and place in appropriate recycling containers.
  • Take out the garbage as necessary.
  • Participates in various mandatory training which some is required annually, and some is required every two years as specified by MN Rule 31.



Qualifications



  • May be required to compete the ServSafe Certification class or be willing to attend training within several months of being hired.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in foodservice for a supervised or assisted living facility. Related experience may be accepted or combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.


  • Must know and understand all rules, regulations, and requirements of the assigned program.


  • A minimum of two year freedom from chemical abuse problems.
  • Computer literate with Email, Excel, and Word programs.

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



Physical Requirements



  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
