Department:PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Engineering (50000088) Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVESERVICE/GRANT FUNDED $27.70 to $30.47 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled technical work in the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and ITS-related systems. This position works alongside the traffic signal systems technical staff in support of the Brevard County Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) program. REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of college credit [60 semester or 90 quarter hours] with major coursework in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Electronic Technology, or a closely related field PLUS four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the repair of ITS infrastructure and traffic signal systems, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess a current International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, an IMSA Fiber Optic Technician certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a Network Plus certification or equivalent industry recognized certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must be able to operate a bucket truck and associated equipment used in ITS equipment maintenance. This position is subject to twenty-four (24) hour on-call seven (7) days a week and is also required to work during major traffic incidents, system failures, and/or other emergencies. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
