Maxar is currently seeking engineering students to join our 2025 summer intern program in Westminster, CO. The Navigation Systems team is responsible for orbit determination, orbit prediction, station keeping, and collision avoidance for Maxar's constellation of Earth imaging satellites. The team also supports orbit design, spacecraft development, integration, and testing for Maxar's future spacecraft missions. All roles involve significant collaboration with Navigation Systems Engineers as well as with engineers from multiple teams across spacecraft and ground system development.

What You'll Be Doing (With guidance from the Navigation Systems team):

  • Support navigation systems in all areas of operations, analysis, system development and documentation
  • Execute analyses to quantify precision orbit determination accuracy and enhancements
  • Develop algorithms and tools to automate analyses, operations, and data visualization
  • Support constellation health and safety through design and execution of station keeping maneuvers
  • Write technical documents to capture procedures and results, as assigned
  • Analyze and assess potential conjunction events with other space objects

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week, On-Site in Westminster, CO (May - August)
  • Currently enrolled as a Bachelors in Senior year, Masters, or PhD program in Aerospace Engineering, Astrophysics, Physics, Orbital Mechanics or related discipline
  • Experience in orbital mechanics and statistical estimation
  • Demonstrated computer programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++, etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical groups
  • Familiarity with git
  • Experience with Linux command line
  • Experience with Kalman filtering

The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $26.00 - $38.00 hourly
