Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ESL Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language to students of varying ages and proficiency levels. This position requires strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to fostering an engaging learning environment.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess students' language proficiency and tailor instruction accordingly.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and collaboration.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance language acquisition.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students on their progress and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and administer assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with ESL teaching methodologies and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Certificate or higher in TESOL or equivalent.
  • NYS Teaching License preferred.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a community setting.


Key Competencies:



  • Knowledge of TESOL methods and techniques; experience working with multicultural teen and adult learners.
  • Language skills in Spanish, French, and/or Chinese are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar and usage.
  • Ability to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to adult learners.
  • Ability to work with teens and young adults of diverse backgrounds and languages and overcome barriers to success.
  • Proficient in using educational technology and online teaching platforms.
