The Marriott Renaissance Hotel is seeking a creative and skilled guest-focused Banquet Food Server to join their team of fun-spirited team members! Our newly renovated 250+ room hotel, with nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space, is conveniently located for business and leisure travelers. Must work evenings & weekends.

Our property is just a short drive from the world-famous Mall of America. Some of our features include a full-service modern American Restaurant concept, featuring creatively crafted interpretations of Food and Beverage made with a Minnesota twist. Other amenities include our indoor heated junior Olympic-sized pool, whirlpool, and 24-hour fitness center, as well as a recent complete remodel of the property with a local Minnesotan theme.

Job Overview: Set up the Banquet Room and serve food and beverages in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner according to high-quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Set up the banquet room as instructed by the Banquet Captain, including linen, service ware, and glassware.
  • Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.
  • Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Serve the food and beverages in the order and according to the banquet captain's expectations to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
  • Promptly bus dishes as guests complete each course and meal at the end of the meal or function.
  • Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
  • Once the banquet is complete, reset the banquet room according to the Captain's specifications to ensure its readiness for the following function.
  • Perform all assigned side-work, including replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves with supplies.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned, to adhere to health standards.
  • Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations about serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Flexible with scheduling to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the job's essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.



  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service-ware.
  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product-labeling instructions to apply products and processes within the hotel safely.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote various menu items.
  • Ability to continuously transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room throughout the shift.
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.

Physical Demands:



  • Ability to speak and hear.
  • Close and distance vision
  • Frequently walking with some standing at times, possibly extended distances; ability to bend when necessary.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.



Qualifications:



  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to obtain any government-required licenses or certificates. CPR Certification and First Aid training are preferred.
  • No prior experience required. Previous hospitality experience preferred.
  • Additional language ability preferred.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling for nights, weekends, and holidays.
