Additional Job Description:

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seek a Pediatric Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of Pediatric Surgery. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Call 1:4.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a general surgery residency program, as well as pediatric surgery fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in pediatric surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Applicants must embody the clinical, educational and scholarly activities of this successful division.The Division of Pediatric Surgery is committed to meeting the needs of young patients and their families. WVU Medicine Children's is a regional referral center for general pediatric care and pediatric subspecialties and offers welcoming, comfortable inpatient and outpatient environments.

Our Pediatric Surgeons are part of a multidisciplinary team, providing diagnostic evaluation and treatment for infants, children and adolescents with hernias, birth defects, abdominal wall defects, intestinal disorders, gall bladder problems, lung and esophageal abnormalities, tumors, trauma and other surgical conditions.

WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center as designated by the American College of Surgeons, with plans to become Level 1.

Our 150 bed Children's Hospital has a full suite of dedicated pediatric operating rooms and includes 26 State of the art Pediatric Intensive Care beds and 54 Neonatal Intensive Care beds for critically ill patients. A rapid transport via helicopter or our ground transport team makes our hospital services readily accessible.

WVU Medicine Children'sreceived its fourth consecutive title as the top children's hospital in West Virginia, according to U.S. News & World Report for 2024, which also ranked the hospital among the best in the region.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.
