GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Mechanical Engineer/Sr. Mechanical Engineer will determine and implement mechanical designs that meet cost and schedule objectives and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Assists in designing shelters and mechanical modifications such as rack installations, ECU installations, entry panel installations and miscellaneous ancillary items.
  • Attends job kick-off meetings and participates in design reviews with customers.
  • Reviews customer requirements including customer specifications, Statements of Work, and interface drawings in order to ensure compliance with contract.
  • Assists in the preparation and updates task lists.
  • Tracks schedules and budgets on assigned programs.
  • Assists in issuing long lead material.
  • Helps in providing technical input to CAD design team on various tasks.
  • Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues.
  • Assists with creating technical proposals, technical materials, and procurement specifications.
  • Helps support the Sales department in proposal development and engineering estimates.
  • Reviews vendor/shop drawings, quotes and proposals.
  • Assists in resolving vendor issues and dispositions defective material. Helps create Cost Schedule Impact Logs (CSILis) for added scope.
  • Submits Engineering Change Proposals (ECPis).
  • Interfaces with customers and contracts to resolve customer related issues.
  • Contributes to product improvement, new products and product standardization.

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required: 4-year college/university education in technical field (BSME/BSMET)

Desired experience: No industry experience required for entry level new graduate.

Experience with AutoCAD; 3D Modeling Software, etc.

Defense/DoD-engineering background preferable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office and manufacturing environment.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
