Job Description

This candidate will have responsibility and cognizance of BIW's electrical infrastructure at multiple facilities and provide technical support, planning, design, monitoring, maintenance-strategy, and repair-support of the plant electrical power distribution systems to ensure its reliability for both current and future needs. This position will work on the Facilities Department's Engineering Team charged with providing technical support and guidance to Electricians and Mechanics in the field. In this role, the candidate will be involved in capital improvement project scope development, Developing Maintenance Strategy for new/installed systems, and liaison with vendors and CMP for technical support. This position will review designs for new substations; upgrades to existing substations; switchgear and other electrical equipment layout and specification(s); power distribution; lighting; and grounding. This position will serve as the primary resource for technicians in the field performing troubleshooting and repair of our infrastructure's power distribution systems.



Required/Preferred Education/Training

    BS in Electrical Engineering required. Experience in Electrical Power Distribution strongly preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred, other Certificates or Licenses are a plus.


Required/Preferred Experience

  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E and applicable local, state and federal codes.
  • Minimum of 5-years electrical/electronics work experience in industrial/commercial setting.
  • Experience with ETAP Software modeling and performing simulations is a plus.
  • Experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) and Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) is a plus.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and A/C, D/C variable speed drives is a plus.
  • Ability to develop, and provide support for Facilities maintenance & projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plant maintenance experience within a manufacturing facility a plus.
  • PC skills mandatory (Microsoft office experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
