The Quality Assurance (QA) Technologist coordinates the design, planning, evaluation, integration, and training of quality assurance initiatives for the clinical practice of cardiovascular Imaging.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.

2. ARDMS or CCI certification (vascular or echocardiography).

3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years of echocardiography or vascular sonography experience.

2 Must be familiar with PACS, Structured reporting, image analysis and interpretation.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Coordinates the creation and maintenance of enterprise-wide quality indicators in support of the HVIS Quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

2. Coordinates the integration of industry benchmarks to, and performs ongoing development of, the QA Dashboard to reflect quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.

3. Acts as the Imaging expert, routinely performing image analysis and implementing image correction processes as needed.

4. Coordinates and facilitates the development of staff through performance of image analysis on individual technologists and improvement activities and education as needed.

5. Coordinates the planning, design, evaluation, and documentation in support of the department's compliance to all regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

6. Creates, gathers, and maintains documentation on productivity and equipment and resource utilization as needed in support of management and operations.

7. Actively contribute to the configuration, planning, training, and implementation of imaging software applications utilized in noninvasive cardiovascular imaging.

8. Acts as the point-of-contact and performs on site equipment testing in conjunction with Biomed and vendor for quality control testing.

9. Leads department activities related to Point-of-Care testing. This includes but is not limited to program development and compliance, staff training and process troubleshooting.

10. Provides house-wide monitoring and documentation of compliance with regulatory guidelines.

11. Assess staff educational needs, develops plan, implements, and evaluates effectiveness of the plan in conjunction with the performance process.

12. Demonstrates clinical expertise by serving as a resource and role model technologist.

13. Coordinates the training of new users of new imaging structured reporting software.

14. Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures in HVIS including, but not limited to echocardiograms, TEE's, TTE's, stress echo, structure heart program imaging, etc, as scheduled.

15. Promotes the team approach to providing echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasound services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.

16. Engages in problem solving, crisis management and systems implementation throughout the hospital and health system to promote and support efficient, high quality, cost effective patient care.

17. Displays imaging techniques, patient care and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARDMS Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, HVIS Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Experience in data gathering and manipulation preferred.

2. Experience with data tools and software (i.e Excel software) preferred.
