SQL Conversion Engineer, Enterprise Justice

The SQL Conversion Engineeradds, deletes, selects, or updates client data in Tyler's Courts and Justice software in a way that meets our clients' business needs. This is done through raw T-SQL code within the Microsoft SQL Server environment. The position requires strong database fundamentals, data analysis skills, and problems solving abilities via SQL scripts.

Tyler Technologies is looking for experienced SQL developers who are passionate about creating T-SQL solutions and want to join a collaborative team of experienced people. The team share scripts, reviews code together, and actively collaborates to solve problems every day.

The work done in this role helps US state and county government offices to be more effective and efficient in how they exercise the judicial system. This saves taxpayers money and provides more access to justice for everyone.

This position does not involve the use of SSIS or BI to populate a data warehouse.

Hybrid Work Environment: 3x per week in Plano, TX

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate problems and deliver custom ad hoc data solutions to address issues in a timely manner.
  • Create SQL scripts in SQL Server Management Studio to add, delete, select, or update data against the Tyler Technologies Courts and Justice database per defined requirements.
  • Run SQL scripts against client Non-Production and Production database instances. This is sometimes done after conventional business hours.
  • Communicate with internal staff and external clients on script requirements and expectations, including when the scripts should be run.
  • Solve unexpected data problems via SQL code.
  • Follow team sprint processes and collaborate with the team.
  • Adhere to Criminal Justice Information System policies and procedures.
  • Perform typical database operations such as database backups, restores, and index creation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Expert ability to write complex SQL scripts on large and complex data models to develop, deliver, maintain, and troubleshoot ad hoc data solutions
  • Ability to write and maintain stored procedures and functions using T-SQL and SSMS and to apply aggregate functions in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of database schemas, tables, relationships, constraints, and typical database operations
  • Strong problem-solving skills specifically related to data puzzles
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines and regularly complete work on time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
