This position is accountable to the EHSS Manager responsible for evaluating, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety and health programs that are consistent with applicable regulatory and corporate requirements. The EHS Team member will spend approximately 70-75% of their time in the field interacting with both employee and contractor work groups.

An EHS resource for plant operations will:

  • Monitor programs and procedures for safety, health, and training
  • Develop Health and Safety training as needed and provide to applicable employees. Site POC for LMS
  • Conduct routine safety and health inspections
  • Maintain safety and health recordkeeping/reports
  • Assist with activities involving regulatory agencies in the areas of safety and health including inspections and audits
  • Assist with preparation of required permits, licenses, or approvals
  • Assist with submitting specified required reports to external agencies or stakeholders to meet all regulatory deadlines
  • Monitor emerging regulatory and industry issues that may affect facility
  • Monitoring and tracking of all relevant health and safety data
  • Participate in project reviews and change management processes to identify EHS issues/opportunities.

Essential Skills:

  • The desire to exist in a dynamic environment that has a continuous improvement focus
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable in health, safety, ergonomics, job safety analysis
  • Experience in a chemical facility preferred
  • Good functionality with PC programs including in Microsoft Office applications (Strong in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Prefer a minimum of 5-10 years work experience in Industrial Environmental Systems or related field.
  • Knowledge of The Responsible Care Management System (RCMS)
  • 5-10 years' work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environmental systems or related field working with EHS compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations
  • Knowledge of ISO EHS Management program to ensure compliance with Corporate and Statutory requirements including ISO 14001 and 45001 requirements.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Available to be on call as needed for Environmental and Productivity issues
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access all areas of the plant that may require environmental evaluation

Education:

  • B.S. in Safety and Health, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Other degrees in the sciences will be considered.
