The Associated Press seeks an experienced journalist to join the Nerve Center as a news producer, joining the team tasked with ensuring the AP's report - including spot news, politics, sports, entertainment, business and lifestyle content - meets the needs of AP's customers on all digital and social platforms. As a member of the team, you'll help coordinate worldwide coverage of the day's biggest stories and global planning for enterprise stories and major events. This job covers U.S. evening hours from Los Angeles. This is a staff position covered by AP's agreement with the News Media Guild. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Nerve Center Director, the news producer will place an emphasis on cross-format global news coordination, planning and customer communications, and upholding AP standards and style. You will join a team that is committed to diverse and inclusive storytelling. Preferred Qualifications: We're looking for an excellent photographer, video journalist, reporter or editor who excels at communicating with colleagues around the globe. You stay on top of the news across regions and beats. Applicants must have top-tier news judgement, a deep understanding of editorial standards and the ability to reorder priorities quickly. You must be able to work effectively as a member of a team and should have at least five years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk. We will consider strong candidates who do not meet every listed qualification. Cover letters to describe the unique qualifications you would bring to this role are required. This position is covered by The Associated Press' contract with the News Media Guild, which provides for an annual salary for Class A staff of between $52,046 and $82,934 based on location and years of professional experience.
