POSITION SUMMARY:

Are you a natural storyteller? Skilled at navigating the ever-evolving world of social media? Do you have a passion for the outdoors? This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the resort's social channels, creating and curating compelling social content that supports the resort's marketing goals, and keeping the Winter Park brand engaging and fresh. In this role, you will use your writing, photo, and video skills to bring the brand and the resorts stories to life: from mountain conditions, to resort events and operational updates, behind-the-scenes action to personality profiles, and all the things there are to do on and off the mountain.

The Social Media and Content Specialist is a key member of the Marketing Team, working first and foremost to drive resort and marketing goals. They must be a team player and have a marketing mindset, be able to jump in and contribute to a multitude of projects, and flex their skillset where needed. This role works in support of and in alignment with the Social and Content Manager. Please note that advanced skills in skiing and/or snowboarding is an essential function of this job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Social Media
  • Assist the Social and Content Manager in developing the overall social strategy for Winter Park Resort
  • Execute the social strategy, manage the social calendar and daily posting, comment and DM moderation, and assist in general community management across all social platforms
  • Create and curate high performing brand and product content to push key marketing goals and targets across social media channels including Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube. Additional channels may be added as needed to serve the resort's social strategy
  • Leverage existing performance and analytic measurement tools to evaluate content and channel performance. Provide reporting, insights, and recommendations to better support business objectives. Optimize channels and content based on results and guest insights
  • Take ownership and accountability for snow messaging & content for the winter season. This role is responsible for tracking weather conditions, alerting the marketing team to incoming storms, initiating daily resort and snow conditions messaging across social channels, planning for and capturing snow related content, and assisting with copy for powder alert emails as needed


Marketing & Advertising
  • Understand and write in a consistent brand voice across captions, comments, DM replies, and other marketing collateral as needed
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all current resort products, offerings, and packages
  • Create paid social ads to support advertising campaigns that effectively drive the business and revenue
  • Understand and optimize audiences for paid social campaigns
  • Write copy for advertising, paid social campaigns, email, website and other marketing materials as needed
  • Assist the Social and Content Manager and Copywriter to write compelling, SEO optimized blog content as needed to create added value and attract site visitors and social followers
  • Confer regularly with Mountain Operations, Guest Services and Information, Patrol, Marketing, Public Relations, Events, Community Organizations, and various resort businesses to compile, update, and disseminate mountain information as needed
  • Help coordinate and assist marketing team as needed including, but not limited to hosting media, procuring tickets, coordinating on various projects, setting up social contests and more
  • Project manage special initiatives as assigned to drive Marketing department goals
  • Assist with writing package and product one-pagers and descriptions as needed


Photo & Video
  • Work independently to create and curate social assets to support social content needs on a weekly basis, collaborating with business units, models, and other departments as needed
  • Collaborate with the Visual Content Specialist to source and create video and photo assets for other marketing content needs in an efficient and effective manner
  • Help manage photo and video assets by uploading and tagging photo, video and UGC assets in the DAM, and organizing seasonal selects


REQUIRED SKILLSETS:
  • Strong understanding of user behaviors across social media platforms and how best to develop content that will maximize our brand and product awareness
  • High interest in and knowledge of social media trends and ability to apply them to enhance a brand's presence and messages
  • Proficient use of social media analytics and reporting tools, such as Sprout Social
  • Familiarity with user-generated content (UGC) management
  • Knowledge of or experience with influencer marketing a plus
  • Proficient to advanced skills in social media content creation, including but not limited to: mobile asset capture and editing workflow, talent direction, native and third-party app editing (Instagram, TikTok, Capcut, Splice, etc.)
  • Proficient skills in the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate great attention to detail, ownership and accountability
  • Great team collaborator; prior professional experience on Marketing teams a plus
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 to 5 years of social media experience in a professional setting, preferably in the outdoor industry.
  • Advanced level skier/snowboarder capable of riding the entire mountain.


COMPENSATION:

The base annualized salary below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resort's compensation range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
  • Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
