Job Details

Under general direction of the Vice President of Field Services, the Senior Director Strategic Account Management is responsible for the strategic oversight client engagements within the Field Services line. The Senior Director may also head-up a functional area within Field Services. This position works with senior management to help create and implement strategic goals within assigned clients that are designed to grow the business. The Senior Director typically oversees a management staff and provides guidance on strategic and operational issues and/or client initiatives. The Senior Director typically manages a budget and may help to develop new business to support budget projections.

The Senior Director role is remote based in the US.

This role requires strong industry knowledge of Market Access and the reimbursement business.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, conducts and directs research and/or development work on complex projects necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. May represent the organization in outside discussions and technical forums. Generally, works with wide latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

Account Management

  • Provides senior leadership on multiple client accounts or practice areas

  • Responsible for strategic management

People Management

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

Team Management

  • Creates mission and works with management team to ensure a clear understanding of team mission and goals

  • Works with management team to help identify skills that are needed for projects or work activities and match skill requirements with talent

  • Develops performance standards for management team and measures success against performance standards

Business Development

  • Creates innovative business expansion and/or new services

  • Responsible for leading proposal writing, contracting, client presentations, and pricing

  • Establishes goals for business unit growth

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and important pending legislation impacting business

  • May maintain specialized technical skills in a disease state, hold expert medical knowledge on reimbursement strategies, and/or possesses functional knowledge

  • Identifies and collaborates with internal and external resources and experts

Training and Mentoring

  • Develops succession plans for key management team members

  • Recruits, trains, and develops senior leaders

  • Provides leadership to team and participates as facilitator for learning programs

Financial Accountability

  • Manages budget to include P&L responsibility

  • Approves purchases, contracting, expenses, and may manage vendor relationships

  • Allocates human and financial resources as appropriate to ensure objectives are accomplished

  • Searches and pursues revenue generation opportunities and effectively manages to ensure that new revenue is realized

  • Trains managers on financial matters related to performing job responsibilities

Quality and Compliance

  • Overall responsibility for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of all services

  • Identifies areas for risk

  • Fosters proactive, continued quality improvement

  • Ensures and maintains highest integrity and honesty in all business activities

Organizational Leadership

  • Responsible for corporate culture to include embracing and fostering company values

  • Supports company programs and initiatives

  • Represents the company to associates and the public

  • Adheres to company policies and procedures

  • Supports company practices

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCTATION:

  • Requires broad training in field such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer services, health care administration, or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program. Role also requires demonstration of progressive leadership responsibility with a minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15 years) of experience.

  • Master's degree such as MBA, MHA, or equivalent is preferred. Normally requires directly related and progressively responsible experience within healthcare consulting or pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry with a history of successful achievement in the fields of reimbursement strategies and tactics.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Market Access and Reimbursement Pharma background is highly desirable.

  • Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of projects of major complexity, sufficient to teach others. Must have achieved recognized standing in professional field through original contribution. Able to substantially contribute to business strategy and planning within specified area of expertise.

  • Proven ability to contribute to a team and to deliver results on time, with the available resources, and within budget

  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects and with multiple individuals simultaneously

  • Proven ability to maintain high quality output

  • Strong company and business knowledge of the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology/medical device industry and experience with issues surrounding the marketing of pharmaceutical products, including issues surrounding coding, coverage, and reimbursement of those products

  • Strong management skills and leadership qualities with demonstrated ability to resolve team member issues effectively and efficiently

  • Think independently and adapts easily to changes

  • Result-oriented , strategic partner

  • Economic, financial and quantitative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to direct his/her staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of high quality client deliverables

  • Capacity to supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • High aptitude to coach and develop direct reports

  • Strong organizational and communication skills; attention to detail

  • Demonstrated success within the consulting environment or pharmaceutical industry

  • Broad technical knowledge of reimbursement strategies and/or health policy

  • Ability to interact with and influence clients to drive new business development for the company

  • Interest and ability to "think outside the box"

  • Excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex material in presentations and discussions in a straightforward manner

  • Display flexibility and collaboration

  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop sound, long-term client relationships and an ability to influence clients without being overbearing

  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, successful consulting firm, which maintains high quality standards and demands excellence

  • Ability to proficiently use computer and standard office equipment and software, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The employee will work from home and maintain a home office. The employee will travel across the United States for presentations, team meetings, field observations, and client meetings and will not have a defined territory.Travel may be four to five days per week. Communication will include weekly participation on team and client conference calls and maintaining email.
