Reports To: Refugee School Impact Program Coordinator Office Hours: Monday - Friday; 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. The School Enrichment Facilitator seeks to improve the educational and socio-cultural success of refugee children.

Duties /Responsibilities
- Providing support activities to refugee children and youth.
- Implementing enrichment lesson/activity plans within the established guidelines.
- Guiding clients one-on-one and in group settings
- Supporting refugee families by addressing academic and social challenges that prevent refugee students from realizing their maximum potential.?
- Identifying barriers to learning and making appropriate referrals to YMCA programs.
- Maintaining positive relationships with children, parents, school personnel, and other staff.
- Attending and participating in program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
- Updating and maintaining required program documentation.
- Workingclosely with fellow RSI facilitators as well as RSI case managers to coordinate responsibilities and meet outcomes
- Complyingwith Houston ISD and Alief ISD background requests and general school policies if tutoring takes place on school property
- Meeting timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to UKG-Kronos for review and approval of time sheets.
- Reporting suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Following mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Completing required CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings within 3 months of start date and maintain certifications.
- Completing other duties as assigned.
Outcomes The School Enrichment Facilitator is responsible for the following:
- Assessing and serving 50 students per year
- Updating and maintaining documentation in 50 client files.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 18 years of age.
- Experience/expertise in an enrichment area preferred
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- English speaker with proficiency in an additional relevant refugee language (Arabic, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Swahili, Burmese) preferred.
- Texas Driver's License; clean driving record; reliable vehicle; and applicable auto insurance.
