Application Window Open date: January 10, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Jan 24, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Feb 10, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The van Dam laboratory in the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging at the University of California, Los Angeles, is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated project scientist to join our multidisciplinary research program, which focuses on the development of innovative microscale chemical synthesis platforms for preparing and optimizing radiolabeled compounds for molecular imaging and theranostics. Radiochemistry based on droplet-scale reactions offers numerous key advantages over conventional macroscale radiochemistry techniques. The candidate will work on (i) adapting radiolabeling and purification methods into microscale and high-throughput formats for a variety of radionuclides and classes of molecules, and (ii) leveraging these technologies for evaluation of novel compounds in collaborative projects. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, radiochemistry or chemical engineering, with experience in radiochemistry (especially F-18 and radiometals), expertise in analytical methods commonly used in radiochemistry (including TLC, HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, NMR), and experience in synthesis optimization. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented and systematic, and will possess excellent critical thinking, experiment planning, and communication (oral and written) skills.
