Job Description
IS4S is seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Fabricator / Technician to support the development and manufacturing of custom-built electronic test systems for advanced navigation and communication systems. In this role, you will be assisting electrical and mechanical engineers in the design and assembly of custom test systems that integrate various levels of prototype equipment with test benches for laboratory and field evaluation. This will include fabricating custom cable harnesses and assemblies, 19" rack-mount assemblies, and custom electronic enclosures and assemblies. Also, in this role you will assist engineers in the acceptance and checkout of these test systems, as well as performing acceptance, functional, and qualification testing activities using the custom test equipment. This will include operating basic test equipment (modern oscilloscopes, multi-meters, frequency counters, spectrum and network analyzer) as well as operating custom software applications developed by the engineers to perform the prototype testing. You will be an integral part of the IS4S test system development team located in Auburn, AL. At IS4S, we specialize in the applied research and development of advanced PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) systems for the U.S. Depart of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies. As a key technician / fabricator on our team, you will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of PNT systems for our Warfighters. Your skills, expertise, and innovative designs will directly contribute to our nation's defense. Some travel will be involved periodically to travel to sub-contractor and government facilities for system setup and maintenance.

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance required

Desired Skills


  • Basic hands-on skills in assembling electronic systems and enclosures
  • Proficiency with fabricating custom cable assemblies and wiring harnesses

    • Experience with MIL-DTL-38999 and RF coaxial connectors is a plus


  • Proficient in various soldering and desoldering techniques and ability to check work for proper connections and any defects that may be present.
  • Work well in a multi-disciplinary, team-based environment
  • Work well in a fast-paced, rapid prototyping environment that may require frequent rework and modification to existing systems
  • Be able to directly support engineers on the team and incorporate design changes frequently



Responsibilities


  • Utilize your expertise in electro-mechanical fabrication to ensure a high-quality product for our customers
  • Work with the engineering and test teams to design and assemble custom test systems
  • Aid in the design of the systems to ensure manufacturability, repeatability, and safety
  • Communicate and collaborate with the engineering staff to optimize designs for rapid assembly and potential future modifications.
  • Work with an integrated team to perform acceptance and checkout of the test systems as they are constructed
  • Operate the custom test equipment when it is deployed to perform testing on the navigation and communication prototype systems
  • Train subcontractors and end-users on the operation of the test systems after they are delivered
  • Participate in periodic integration and test events with both IS4S team members and sub-contractors both on-site and at remote facilities
  • Fabricate custom cable harnesses and assemblies, 19" rack-mount assemblies, and custom electronic enclosures and assemblies



Requirements


  • High school graduate (or GED)
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience and in assembly of electrical wiring harnesses
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic competency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Power-Point)
  • Previous experience in small and medium scale projects and interdisciplinary work will be highly advantageous
  • A passion for learning and a proactive approach to assimilating knowledge from experienced team members.

Pay
Starting pay is $25-$35 / hour depending on experience
